Common questions
Isn't manual entry a lot of work?
A few minutes a week. Most people find it becomes a habit quickly. And with file import, you can batch a week's worth of transactions in one sitting — just review and approve.
How is this different from Mint or YNAB?
Those apps auto-sync and categorize everything for you. Better Cheddar doesn't — every transaction you see, you've reviewed and approved. That intentional friction is the whole point.
What file formats does import support?
CSV and QFX exports from most major banks work out of the box. OFX support may work but hasn't been fully tested yet.
Is my data secure?
Your data is stored in a private database tied to your account. Better Cheddar never connects to your bank and never sees your credentials.
Can I share my budget with a partner?
Yes — households let multiple people share the same budget. Invite a partner or spouse from your account settings once you're set up.
